"On the way to the fulfillment of our purpose are the goals we set along the way."
ABOUT

ABOUT ME

My Philosophy

In the course of everyday life people from all walks of life deal with stress, anxiety, depression, and countless other cognitive distress. I have seen the ravages of mental illness. I have witnessed firsthand the debilitating effects of mental distress. I believe that all people at different times, events, and or situations fall prey to mental distress. This mental distress may come in the form of grief due to the loss of a love one, a traumatic life altering event such as rape, divorce, financial upheaval, and destroyed family relations just to name a few. As humans we all need to have our basic necessities met in order to feel safe and secure. Just as we need our basic needs met to feel secure, we also need love, community and purpose to feel needed and accomplished. On the way to the fulfillment of our purpose are the goals we set along the way. In order to accomplish our goals we need a healthy clear mind and positive coping strategies. Some of us have the ability to encourage ourselves, pick our mental selves up and keep moving forward, whereas, others are not so resilient. The measure of a man or woman is not in how weak or strong he or she is, but in how strong he or she is when, at their weakest moment they are strong enough to reach for help. As an LPC I want to be the bridge that joins your broken heart and mind to healing and happiness.

EXPERIENCE

As a Licensed Professional Counselor, I believe we all have what it takes to became healthy and whole. I am a compassionate professional who believes in a holistic approach to counseling. With the right approach, I believe that all clients possess what it takes to overcome both cognitive and emotional struggles. I believe that Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Client Centered Therapy, can help clients gain the skills needed to begin realizing their greatest healthier self. Although these are my approaches to counseling, I understand that every client is different, therefore; I do not operate from a cookie cutter method of counseling. I adhere to the following American Counseling Associations Code of Ethics code A.1. Client Welfare (ACA, 2014), as a counselor it is my responsibility to which states "the primary responsibility to treat you in a manner that maintains your dignity and ensures your welfare, as well as code A.1.c. Counseling Plans (ACA, 2014). We will work together to formulate plans and goals that are reasonable, specific and measurable. We will also review stated plans and goals for effectiveness and or revision as we deem necessary. I will always work with your best interest at hand and you will always have autonomy over your care.
